DIY vs BUY - Soundproofing
Bass Traps
Sorry no great DIY info for this one. Yeah the are easy and cheap to DIY if you can get your hands on the high quality low frequeuncy absorbtive materials locally, I could not. If you can get the good materials then there are some great DIY instructions on the interwebz already. By the time I paid to ship the materials it was going to cost more than buying the finished bass traps. If you are treating a large room and need 4 large (2' x 4') bass traps or more, then DIY will save you a chunk of change even with shipping on the materials. They are not hard to make at all and you can make a ton at once.
I went with the Acoustimac 24" x 24" x 4" corner bass trap of eBay with the angled sides to sit flush into the upper corners of my studio. They were $49.95 a piece in the color of my choice. Due to a quirky room setup I actually only needed 3. They have worked great for controlling the low end frequency problems of my room and saved me a ton of time / hassle.
