Damascus Steel Folding Knives
Damascus steel is a combination of several layers of steel that has been folded over many times. Each of these layers contain different types of steel, some of which contain higher percentages of materials such as nickel and carbon. The metals can be folded in different ways to create different patterns in the steel blade. The act of folding the steel using the damascus technique also enhances the overall strength of blade and its ability to hold an ultra sharp edge. These blades are true folded damascus steel, not just lazer or chemical etched paterns on basic steel blades. The etched finish (aka fake) damascus blades tend to rub off with use or sharpening. Properly cared for, true Damascus knives will retain their beauty and last for generations.
While I do not currently have the machinery or workspace to create these entire folding knives from scratch, I do have the capability to adjust / customize / shape things like handles, blades, screws, posts, bolsters, thumb openers, linerlocks and opening action of the knives. These are truely one of a kind works of art. Even when I produce several knives of the same shape, the use of these unique materials will still yield distinct one of a kind knifes. The cost of my custom knives will vary greatly depending on the materials, detail and time involved in a project. Specialty orders are often available with enough lead time and may include personalization and color or finish specification.
These are not meant to be combat knives. The doaming jeweler's epoxy used on these handles has a relatively slick non-porous finish. Combat knife handles are specifically designed for fast grip reversal and firm grip during wet or oily conditions. These grips are designed for appearence and duarbility, they are not the textured high friction grips typically used on combat blades. I also do not typically make assisted openers for the same reasons. These knives should be viewed as gentlemen's folding knives or utility folding knives.
